Today, RIM released an update to BlackBerry Bridge from 2.10.34 to 188.8.131.52 for both BlackBerry 10 Developer testing devices and BlackBerry Smartphones. Numerically this is a huge release, but there is no included change log, or apparent new features. Historically, whenever RIM released an update to BlackBerry Bridge, an operating system update to the PlayBook would come within one or two days of that update. This is especially important today, on the eve of the launch of BlackBerry 10, which we have been told will be coming to the PlayBook at some point.Could this bridge update have something to do with the extra features that BlackBerry Bridge on BlackBerry 10 will have? And will some form of BlackBerry 10 with those features be released tomorrow for the PlayBook?
As much as I would love to see that happen, I don’t think the chances are very good. However, it’s a strange time and way to release an update like that, especially given the correlated history of BlackBerry Bridge, and PlayBook OS updates.
